Many gay couples feel welcomed with gay travel to Costa Rica, so much so that they have decided to move out there or purchase holiday homes. There is a great nightlife that is gay friendly as well well as special gay bars and nightclubs where you can have a holiday to remember with your significant other. In comparison to other holiday resorts and countries there is a higher acceptance of same sex couples in Costa Rica, you may find this surprising, especially as a majority of the locals, in fact 80% of them Roman Catholics. You cannot get married as a same sex couple in Costa Rica yet you could honeymoon there and have a great time with your life partner.
There are lots of clubs, hotels and bars that cater specifically for the gay scene or are more that happy to have same sex couples stay with them, after all why should they not? As with other countries Costa Rica has begun to realize that not only are the gay community good and fun guests to have, they are also well behaved and liven up most evenings.
Much unlike other popular holiday locations you will find that there have been very few incidents because of people being homophobic. All are welcoming unless they feel threatened or that they have been highly disrespected.
Just for your information, there seems to be a lot of different information on the legal age of consent, but to clear that up for heterosexual couples and gay couples the consenting age is the same, 18.
One of the most popular places that gay couples and singles visit as well as have bought holiday homes and even moved to is San-Jose which will mean that there is an excellent gay community there and you will not feel alone whether traveling as a single, group or with your partner. This and the surrounding areas are where the gay community is at it’s strongest.
